Four books were examined that were about depression in both children's and young adult's literature.

The Authors

Meet the authors that wrote the books that I read. Each of them has something that makes their perspective on depression unique. Feel free to visit this page to see their pictures and visit their webpages if available. Learn about the people that wrote these books.

The Books

The books that were read were in an effort to examine the presence of depression in children's and young adult's literature. Some of the books deal with the character having depression, where others describe someone else having depression, helping everyone to relate to the characters.

Here, I discuss the set of books as a whole and talk about how depression is depicted in children's and young adult's literature. I also share what I have noticed about depression in this body of literature and what this says about society's view on the topic.

Reflection

After reading the book review of "Girl, Interrupted" by Christian Perring, Ph.D., I take time to talk about my opinions about the review, and the book. See how Dr. Perring and I's opinions of "Girl, Interrupted" differed.
